CampusPool uses a fair 65:35 weighted fuel cost formula based on real highway distance and average Texas gas prices. The driver's car and driving time are rewarded, so the driver always pays less than each passenger. With 3–4 students sharing the ride, trips between Austin, Houston, and Dallas often cost just $4 to $8 per person. CampusPool adds a flat $2.50 student reservation fee to keep the service running.

No! The moment you upload a photo of your student ID card, you are granted instant provisional access to book seats and post rides immediately. Our team verifies student cards in the background, so your travel plans are never delayed.

Riders pay through Stripe Checkout. After the driver completes the ride, riders confirm arrival and any excess fuel refunds must finish before the payout becomes eligible. An administrator then sends and records the transfer to the driver's saved payout handle. Do not pay the fuel contribution a second time at pickup.

Once a seat is reserved, passenger and driver phone numbers are unlocked in the My Trips tab. Drivers and riders can click "Copy Numbers for Group Chat" to start an iMessage, WhatsApp, or GroupMe carpool group to coordinate campus dorm, student union, or neighborhood pickup points.

Yes! Every member has a verified profile displaying their first name, university affiliation, and student ID verification status. Additionally, female drivers can toggle Women-Only when posting a trip, restricting seat bookings exclusively to verified female students for maximum comfort and peace of mind.

Riders can cancel before departure from My Trips. Up to $5 of the fuel contribution and the $2.50 fee are retained. Driver cancellation requests a full refund. Final fuel shares are settled after ride completion; requested refunds may take time to reach your payment method.

Yes, 100% legal. CampusPool operates strictly under federal and state carpooling statutory exemptions (such as Texas Transportation Code Chapter 601/602). Because passenger payments are strictly capped at reimbursing actual vehicle fuel expenses with no driver profit, it is non-commercial peer carpooling, not a commercial taxi or TNC. Drivers are required to hold valid driver's licenses and personal automotive liability insurance.

We recommend checking in via your carpool group chat 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Drivers typically wait 10–15 minutes past departure time. If a passenger is completely unresponsive, the driver may proceed and cancel the booking in My Trips.
